The End of a Long Journey... and the Beginning of Another

I passed! Thank you for all your thoughts, prayers, support, and understanding over the last 9 months. I couldn’t have done it without you. To Melissa, thank you especially! You were my rock – this success is as much yours as it is mine.

The most frequent question I get now is, “what’s next?” Here is the process. Melissa and I will have some very detailed physicals in the next 30 days so that we can be granted medical clearance. I just entered the security clearance process. Once both clearances are granted (usually 60 – 90 days but has been as fast as 30 and as long as 13 months), I will be placed on a “list of eligible candidates,” also known as the register. Because my score was high, I am not expected to stay on the register long. When a spot opens, I will be called to DC for orientation (A-100) and language training. I find out where I am going the last day of A-100, which is 5 weeks long. I will likely be in DC for 8 -12 months total, and then we move internationally.

More to come later…
