Prior to going to the OA at the end of March, I need to write a one page “Statement of Interest.” The page starts by saying, “Use the space below to describe why you want to become a Foreign Service officer.” No instructions, no pointers, no hints… that’s it. So, I thought I would take a stab at it and started writing. When I came back to reality I had 16 pages typed. I have a lot of editing to do!
On a stranger note, I started completing my security clearance paperwork. We have to have everything complete and entered in the system before the OA. When I logged on the system to begin, most of the fields were already populated! The government had entered the information from my previous security clearance application back in 2005! At that time it was all filled out on paper, so all that information had been entered into a database somewhere and stored for 5 years!
