After an excruciating wait, I received word tonight at 8:00 that I will be joining the September Foreign Service Officer orientation class! I am to report to the State Department in Foggy Bottom, Washington, DC at 8:00 Monday, September 13th! Needless to say, I am incredibly excited – and relieved – that we have a date.
In typical government fashion, appointments stated going out via e-mail Friday evening. They continued throughout the weekend. I had started to give up (after checking e-mail every 5 minutes for 3 days) when the invite appears. Thank God!
On another front, we have pretty good ideas about living arrangements in DC, but now with a date we can start negotiations. I am hopeful we will have an official residence in the next few weeks.
