Downtown!

Today was the beginning of our first move. We are now mostly moved into the new place. We have everything we need to survive moved, and over the next 5 – 6 days we will get the rest of the stuff and clean up the old house.

I’m really excited to be downtown. The energy is amazing, and it is really cool to see 4 restaurants and 3 bars from our window (not to mention a porn shop… not so cool.) I do wish we could have moved in the dead of winter. The flowers at our house are all in bloom, the trees are growing, and all the neighbors are out. It was harder leaving that I thought. We never intended that house to be temporary, so there was a lot of meaning in each tree and bush. Oh well… new chapter.

Progress on the Foreign Service you ask? No. None. My security clearance is taking forever… well really that isn’t the whole story. They finally admitted that my file was sitting on someone’s desk untouched for 2 ½ weeks, so now things are moving again. Hopefully we will hear something soon. My medical clearance is done, but Melissa’s is taking forever. We have already sent 30 pages of medical records, and have about 15 – 20 more to send in. Nothing like having to wait on the medical clearance for a girl who flat out refuses to take an aspirin and has no problem knocking out 10 miles in the morning and lifting weights after dinner.

Still looking like the move to DC will be mid-September.  You'll here it here first as soon as I know something.
